Energising sustainability reporting

HPCL is one of the largest public-sector organisations in India with a Navratna status. The company also features in the Fortune 500 and Forbes 2000 lists. HPCL owns two refineries and produces over 300 grades of lubes, specialities and greases with more than four decades of proven expertise in the energy sector. For the 2015-16 Sustainability Report, HPCL wanted to highlight how the principles of sustainability were being embedded into the growth model for building a secure, sustainable and inclusive future for its stakeholders.

Promoting sustainable growth

We arrived at the ‘Transcending Together For a Better Future’ theme to highlight how HPCL was mitigating the emerging risks through technological expertise, operational excellence, reduction in carbon footprint, safety performance and unwavering ethical standards. The report also disclosed the company’s performance data on the triple bottom line strategy. We adopted a minimal design approach and deployed infographics and charts to clearly explain HPCL’s complex businesses.

Renewing stakeholder commitment

The company’s stakeholder engagement framework and materiality assessment was outlined in an easy-to-understand format. The management message reiterated HPCL’s commitment to deliver energy for growth and socio-economic development while safeguarding the environment for future generations. The overall content architecture and design approach helped bring out the brand’s personality in an effective manner.
