Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) is India’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company with over 35 brands across 20 distinct categories. HUL is a subsidiary of Unilever, one the world’s leading suppliers of food, home care, personal care and refreshment products. It enjoys a wide presence in nine out of ten Indian households’ daily lives. The company approached us to create a comprehensive range of reports including print and online versions, along with subsidiary and business communiqué.

Portraying brand personality

The idea was to portray HUL’s personality and showcase its core element of ‘vitality’ to improve its engagement with the stakeholders. Our strategy was to express the company’s environmentally and socially responsible approach towards every brand and endorse HUL’s pledge around the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP). The reports emphasised the company’s clear focus on responsible growth, using a set of guideposts and illustrations and highlighting USLP-led initiatives that have a positive impact on life and the environment.

Designed to engage

We also created an online version that was interactive and intuitive with smart navigations guiding the readers through the report. It also contained video messages from the company’s leadership. The architecture also allowed for downloading a particular section and map performance trends while holistically communicating HUL’s earnestness and candour towards its stakeholders on all aspects. A seamless integration of the reports resulted in a compelling narration of HUL’s philosophy and story.
